Christopher Nolan's epic biographical thriller based on Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin's Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus. Shot in IMAX 65mm and 65mm large-format film with extensive practical effects, the film intercuts Oppenheimer's rise at Los Alamos with Lewis Strauss's 1959 Senate confirmation hearing. Released July 21, 2023 alongside Barbie in the Barbenheimer phenomenon, it grossed $976.8 million worldwide and won seven Academy Awards including Best Picture.
